This isn’t a trick, it’s a treat. Although Halloween might still be on our minds, the holiday baking season is quickly approaching with the release of the 2025 We Energies Cookie Book on Saturday, Nov. 1.

This year’s book brings together 37 recipes from your cookie jar to ours, including this treat from Wendy Henschel of Elkhart Lake, Pumpkin Cookies with Maple Cream Cheese Frosting.

Wendy shares how her cookies tricked her toddler into eating healthy options.

“When my 18-year-old daughter, Adela, was little, I found creative ways to incorporate garden fruits and vegetables into our meals. Our homegrown pie pumpkins were a staple, and adding puréed pumpkin to various dishes became second nature. Adela adored the Pumpkin Cookies with Maple Cream Cheese Frosting most of all,” Wendy recalls.

Adela has enjoyed being in the kitchen with her mom for as long as she can remember. She recalls standing on kitchen chairs to reach the counter.

Adela’s memory of her mom being sneaky with adding garden goods to her cookies is a little different. “I already knew there was pumpkin in the cookies and I liked them that way so I didn’t mind. I was never really picky about vegetables being in food, in my opinion,” said Adela.

Whatever the real story is, Adela and her mom are very happy to share their recipe for Pumpkin Cookies with Maple Cream Cheese Frosting, found on page 27, with you. Their recipe is featured among a variety of treats from home bakers across the state, including the bright citrus flavors of Zesty Lime Cookies, found on page 10, to the comforting spices of Anna’s Molasses Cookies, found on page 22, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The 2025 We Energies Cookie Book’s rich history dates back to 1928. This year marks the 97th anniversary of the first Cookie Book, a tradition that began to promote electric appliances. Last year, nearly 230,000 copies were handed out to customers.

Don’t miss the chance to get a free copy!  The book will be available at events statewide throughout November and online.
