We Energies is prepared to respond to power outages quickly and safely ahead of a strong winter storm that will impact Wisconsin Saturday night into Monday.
Parts of the Fox Valley, northern Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula of Michigan are expecting upwards of two feet of snow and gusty winds, while southeast Wisconsin may get hit with a mix of snow, rain, sleet and freezing rain.
The National Weather Service is warning that whiteout and near blizzard conditions are possible in central and northern Wisconsin which may make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening.
What customers should expect
- Outages are likely: The combination of strong winds and the weight of the expected snow and ice may bring down trees and branches onto power lines.
- Restoration takes time: Hundreds of crews will be ready to respond to any power outages as soon as it is safe. However, in some areas, restoration may be delayed due to snow-covered roads.
- Safety first: If you have natural gas appliances that vent outside of your home, keep the vent pipes clear of snow and ice. Keep natural gas and electric meters clear of snow and ice for safety and accessibility.
- Give crews space: Snow may prevent We Energies crews from parking on the side of the road when responding to outages. If you must travel, watch out for utility trucks, plows and emergency responders and give them room.
