We Energies is committed to building a bright, sustainable future on Earth Day and every day. In 2025, the We Energies Foundation donated nearly $400,000 to nonprofits dedicated to protecting the environment.

Last year, the foundation provided 60 grants to more than 35 organizations across Wisconsin. With those grants, these groups are making a difference in our local parks, natural habitats and waterways, and investing in the future through environmental education.

Here are just a few examples of the conservation work happening statewide thanks to We Energies:

Natural Resources Foundation

The We Energies Foundation works closely with the Natural Resources Foundation (NRF) to support land restoration activities at Spread Eagle Barrens State Natural Area, which is considered to be one of the state’s most ecologically important sites. The land is jointly owned by Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources and We Energies.

Additionally, the foundation helps fund NRF programming, including field trips, internships and the Great Wisconsin Birdathon, which encourages teams of kindergartners all the way up to expert birders to challenge themselves to see how many birds they can spot and collect donations from friends and family.

Riveredge Nature Center

The We Energies Foundation has been a longtime supporter of the Riveredge Nature Center and helped fund renovations to their Education Center. The foundation also supports special programming throughout the year including the Youth Watershed Education Program, which immerses students in the Milwaukee River’s ecosystem through hands-on learning experiences, and Sturgeon Fest, in which attendees release baby sturgeon into Lake Michigan to help restore the native species.

Schlitz Audubon Nature Center

We Energies has been partnering with Schlitz Audubon Nature Center for two decades to bring live wildlife education programs to We Energies Energy Park at the Wisconsin State Fair. Wildlife experts bring powerful raptors to the public through engaging presentations that spark awe, connection and a deeper understanding of the natural world.

In addition, the foundation is a proud sponsor of Raptor Saturday, which lets people of all ages enjoy up-close encounters with the Schlitz Audubon’s animal ambassadors.

Trees for Tomorrow

The We Energies Foundation also supports Trees for Tomorrow, which offers field-based programs that promote stewardship and renewal of natural resources for use by future resources. The foundation helped to fund an outdoor classroom that will support Trees for Tomorrow’s K-12 programs and community events like Forest Fest.

Building a bright, sustainable future

Of course, We Energies does much more than provide financial support. When it comes to conservation, the company has helped restore endangered species including peregrine falcons, osprey and other native birds. We Energies has also committed hundreds of acres of land to help conserve the monarch butterfly population and other pollinators and has been nationally recognized for its efforts.

Furthermore, We Energies is carrying out an ‘all of the above’ energy strategy that relies on significant investments in renewable energy including solar, wind and battery storage.

Together, We Energies and its foundation are committed to building a brighter future for all.

Funding for the We Energies Foundation is made possible thanks to the generosity of WEC Energy Group shareholders and does not come from customer rates.
