All eyes will be on the Brewers as they look to win the team’s first-ever World Series. No matter whether you’re watching the games in person or on TV, We Energies is doing its part to make sure a power outage doesn’t get in the way of a single pitch.

“This is our way to make sure that we’re hitting a home run and helping contribute to the win for the Brewers,” said John Feider, director — gas and electric field operations.

This week, We Energies has been triple-checking the equipment that connects American Family Field and Fox6, the local broadcaster of the World Series, to the grid.

Crews have been patrolling power lines for overgrown trees and inspecting We Energies equipment with specialized cameras.

“We’ve got an acoustical camera that’s picking up ultrasonic sound waves that you can’t hear, which may point to equipment issues or potential problems,” Feider said. “Same thing with the infrared camera that we utilize. It takes temperatures and gives us an assessment of the system and how things are performing, including whether anything is overtaxed or nearing the end of its service life.”

Wednesday morning, troubleshooter Jim Patnode completed a patrol near Fox6’s broadcast tower in Estabrook Park. While the cameras didn’t detect any potential equipment problems, forestry crews were on hand to cut back some trees near power lines.

After patrolling the area around American Family Field before Opening Day and again before the postseason, We Energies took extra precautions with a third patrol last week ahead of the World Series.

“As a Brewers fan, this is a nice little piece that you can feel like you’re contributing a little bit,” Feider explained. “The Brewers have done such a great job for the city and the state all year long. We’re extremely proud of them and proud to help them in this regard.”

We Energies’ commitment to reliability isn’t limited to the World Series.

“This is the same technology that we utilize and really, the same approach that we utilize across our service area, making sure we get reliable service to all Brewers fans, to all of our customers,” Feider said. “This same level of scrutiny that we put around the perimeters of our lines is exactly what we take into your neighborhoods as well.”
