Help We Energies interns shine bright by casting your vote in the 2025 Light the Hoan Intern Challenge. Fourteen teams of interns from prominent businesses in the Milwaukee area are competing to create the best light display on the Milwaukee Hoan Bridge.

View and vote for the We Energies display at vote.lightthehoan.com. Voting closes at 10am Friday, July 25. The winning team will be announced at 12pm on July 25.

Each intern on the winning team will receive a Southwest Airlines gift card.

The We Energies team is made up of four talented students: information technology interns Sidney Heberlein and Michael Kiem, power generation intern Michael Friese and electric distribution asset management intern Neham Rahman. Their light show reflects the We Energies brand, culture and values, and demonstrates how We Energies has powered Milwaukee’s growth since 1896.

Their design:

  • Incorporates colors inspired by the city’s People’s flag.
  • Highlights how We Energies powers local industry and iconic events, such as Summerfest, Brewers baseball and Bucks basketball, and how the company’s lighting serves as a community beacon.
  • Features the flapping of a monarch butterfly’s wings — symbolizing the company’s continuous adaptation and growth alongside the city, while maintaining its commitment to sustainability and powering the area’s bright future.

In 2024, We Energies took home the People’s Choice Award and secured third place in the celebrity judging contest, highlighting both our interns’ impressive talents and community‘s support.

The We Energies Foundation is the proud presenting sponsor of this event and has supported Light the Hoan and the intern challenge through grants since the collective’s inception in 2018.
