Voting is underway to select the next We Energies safe digging “ambassadog.” The winner will be the star of a special campaign promoting an important safety message: Doggone it! Call 811 at least three days before you dig.

We Energies customers submitted pictures of their precious pups. After careful consideration, the company narrowed it down to the fetching finalists.

 Choose from:

Idaleen — A 15-month-old German shepherd from Hartford who loves to chase balls and go to obedience classes.

Lainey — A spunky 9-month-old beagle/cattle dog mix who lives in Delafield and loves the water.

Luke and Leia — Two Saint Bernard pups from Waukesha. Their owners say 3-year-old Luke is calm and mellow, while 4-year-old Leia loves to play.

Maple — A 1-year-old rescue terrier mix from Milwaukee who enjoys car rides, swimming and snuggling.

Nitro — A 2-year-old Australian shepherd from Milwaukee who loves to play with her dog friends at the park. Her owners say her celebrity look-alike is Bluey from the animated series.

Peanut — A 1-year-old miniature dachshund from Appleton who loves to dig in the dirt and snow, and chase her cat sibling around the house.

Poppy — A sweet Chihuahua/pug mix and rescue dog from Waukesha. Her owners believe she’s about 5 years old and say she loves to chase chipmunks.

Ranger — A curious puppy from Waukesha who is part German shorthaired pointer and part Great Pyrenees. He loves to meet new people and new dogs.

Raven — A 3-year-old German shepherd mix from Waukesha who loves to play with her stuffed animals and eat cheese.

Seamus — A 5-year-old golden retriever from Ixonia who loves to compete in agility trials. His owners say he would fill his backyard with holes if they let him.
