2025 was a remarkable year for helping peregrine falcons flourish in Wisconsin. We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) have now celebrated the births of 465 falcon chicks at their power plants since 1992, helping the endangered bird escape possible extinction.
That means 20% of all peregrine falcons born in the wild in Wisconsin over the past 33 years hatched at We Energies or WPS facilities. This remarkable milestone is noted in the just-released Peregrine Falcon Nesting Season Report.
The 2025 falcon report features:
- Nesting details for the 12 chicks born in 2025, named after the “founding feathers” of the We Energies and WPS peregrine falcon program.
- An update on how bird flu affected the 2025 nesting season in southeast Wisconsin.
- Recent sightings of some of 2025’s chicks in the wild, including “Breezer,” “Hercules” and “Scott.”
