We Energies held a groundbreaking ceremony at the future site of a new state-of-the-art service center in West Bend. This new facility will enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs for customers while continuing high-quality customer service to the area.

Employees from We Energies, City of West Bend and Hunzinger Construction Company gathered at Wingate Business Park on the northeast side of West Bend to mark the occasion with a ceremonial shovel turn.

Michelle Benishek, vice president — Wisconsin field operations for We Energies, extended her gratitude to the City of West Bend and its leaders for their cooperation, and provided a special thank-you to the employees, contractors and builders whose hard work and dedication make projects like this possible.

“We are thrilled to be here in West Bend, and we are thrilled to continue our partnerships,” Benishek said.

Jesse Thyes, West Bend city administrator, added, “I do truly want to thank We Energies for choosing to expand here in the city. This means a lot to us and I appreciate all of your efforts. We are proud to have you as a partner and look forward to growing this relationship now and into the future.”

Scott Wendt, president of Hunzinger Construction Company, shared, “Projects represent more than just bricks and mortar. We are building a foundation for continued revitalization in the area and supporting We Energies’ growth and operations in the region.”

The new facility will merge the Port Washington and West Bend service centers into a single, modern hub. The single-story structure will span 60,000 square feet. It will feature offices, a warehouse, fleet maintenance and vehicle storage to support both electric and natural gas teams.

The new building is designed to accommodate future growth and evolving operational needs while complying with standards from the Americans with Disabilities Act. About 90 employees will work from this location while supporting the surrounding communities.

Construction is set to begin in fall 2025, with completion anticipated by late fall 2026.
