As both a sponsor and a participant of Doors Open Milwaukee, We Energies is proud to showcase the incredible, historic features of its 119-year-old headquarters, the Public Service Building (PSB), this weekend.
The PSB was originally designed as a central station for The Milwaukee Electric Railway and Light Co. (TMER&L), a predecessor of We Energies. Construction began in 1902. Many of the neoclassical details can still be seen from the outside, as well as the replica green doors, where rail cars used to enter and exit the building.
Visitors can stop by this Saturday, Sept. 28, and Sunday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For those who can’t attend in person, a virtual reality tour is posted on the Doors Open website.
Doors Open Milwaukee is a free event organized by Historic Milwaukee. The annual event allows visitors to tour buildings throughout Milwaukee not normally open to the public. The We Energies Foundation has sponsored the event since 2015.
