Tornadoes, straight-line winds and relentless rain have hit Wisconsin hard in April. Throughout these challenging conditions, We Energies crews have been working nonstop to ensure customers have the energy they depend on.

Wild weather

Following the storms that struck Wisconsin from April 14 to 17, We Energies successfully restored power to over 120,000 customers. These severe weather events consisted of multiple storms that unleashed tornadoes, high winds, lightning, hail, and flooding. The aftermath left a trail of destruction with fallen trees, snapped power poles, and downed wires that posed significant challenges for the restoration teams.

Storm restoration crews

The company’s employees, contractors and mutual aid crews from across Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota worked 16-hour shifts around the clock to turn the lights back on for every last customer.

Flooding concerns

Electric crews were not alone in their efforts during this hectic week; natural gas crews were also busy.

Along the Wolf River in Shiocton, New London and Fremont crews temporarily disconnected natural gas service to homes and businesses to keep customers safe and to prevent longer-term damage to the distribution system.

In southeast Wisconsin, natural gas crews conducted proactive inspections of equipment in communities previously affected by flood damage. These inspections are a critical part of the recovery process, ensuring that the natural gas infrastructure remains safe and reliable for all customers.

We Energies is grateful to its customers for their patience and understanding as crews worked nonstop in difficult conditions to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.
