On Veterans Day and every day, We Energies is proud to support the men and women who bravely served our nation.
Over the past year, the We Energies Foundation has pledged more than $450,000 to nonprofit organizations working to ensure veterans receive the support and recognition they deserve.
Stars and Stripes Honor Flight
The We Energies Foundation is a longtime supporter of Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. In April, the company sponsored 116 veterans and their guardians as they were flown to Washington, D.C., to visit the war memorials built in their honor. In addition to sponsoring the flights, We Energies employees volunteered at the airport, served as guardians themselves and wrote hundreds of thank-you cards to show their appreciation to those being honored.

Veterans Community Project
This fall, the foundation was recognized as a major donor and member of the Founders Circle at the groundbreaking of Veterans Community Project on Milwaukee’s northwest side. The project will help homeless veterans get the resources they need to return to a prosperous, independent life. Forty tiny homes will be constructed on an empty lot near North 60th Street and Green Tree Road, and veterans will have access to on-site job placement, health and housing support services.
“Community is the middle name of this organization for a reason. It takes all of us, it really takes the entire community, to come together and pull off this big idea,” said Bryan Mayer, co-founder of Veterans Community Project. “We Energies … thank you all so much for the support you’ve already given and we look forward to continuing to work with you.”

Milwaukee County War Memorial Center
The foundation made a significant contribution to the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center this year. The company and employees have long supported the center’s mission to honor the dead — serve the living. The War Memorial Center has established a preservation fund that will ensure future generations will understand the tremendous sacrifices made by brave service members and their families.
The support doesn’t stop there. The foundation also made donations to organizations like Wisconsin Veterans Network, which helps veterans navigate the sometimes confusing network of government, private and nonprofit organizations to ensure they get the resources and benefits they earned through their service.
And as a reward for meeting their safety goals, We Energies employees chose to direct a charitable contribution to Fisher House, which provides temporary housing for veterans’ and military families while their loved ones receive care at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center.
Funding for the We Energies Foundation is made possible thanks to the generosity of WEC Energy Group shareholders and does not come from customer rates.
