When record temperatures hit Milwaukee this week, We Energies’ power grid beat the heat.
Data show that customers’ peak electricity usage on Wednesday between 4 p.m and 5 p.m. was nearly 40% higher than the typical August peak.
We Energies customers used nearly 5,600 megawatt-hours of electricity in that 60 minute period.
To put it into perspective, that’s the equivalent — in one hour — of charging nearly 467 million smartphones or running more than 88 million refrigerators.
We Energies invests year round in making sure customers have a safe and reliable power grid that keeps them cool on the hottest days, warm on the coldest days and delivers the energy they depend on around the clock.
