Over several days of intense winter weather, We Energies restored power to more than 190,000 customers across Wisconsin and Michigan.

The company’s employees, contractors and mutual aid crews from Arkansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin worked around the clock to overcome historic weather challenges.

Storm overview

  • March 13: The first storm brought wind gusts up to 70 mph along with rain, freezing rain and sleet.
  • March 15: A second storm system with blizzard conditions and heavy snow created additional power outages as crews continued working on earlier damage.
  • The multiday storms knocked down trees and power lines, resulting in widespread outages — creating one of the most severe weather events in We Energies history.

Power restoration effort

  • Hundreds of workers were mobilized, including We Energies line crews, contractors and mutual aid partners.
  • Crews worked 16-hour shifts to replace broken poles, repair downed lines and restore service.
  • In deep snow and whiteout conditions, workers used specialized equipment and tire chains to reach hard-hit and remote areas.

Gratitude for customers

  • We Energies thanks its customers for their patience and understanding as crews worked nonstop through freezing rain, heavy snow and high winds to bring power back as safely and quickly as possible.
  • Customers showed their appreciation of the field crews’ hard work with handshakes, horn honks and praise on social media.
