We Energies employees are making a memorable impact in their communities after a standout year of working safely. Last quarter, employees voted to direct $10,000 in donations each to Special Olympics Wisconsin and Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity.
The donations are part of the Safety Charity Challenge, a companywide program to encourage employees to live and work safely while positively impacting their local communities. Each quarter that safety goals are met, employees have the opportunity to direct contributions toward one of several charities.
The two $10,000 donations were in recognition of employees’ impressive safety results in the fourth quarter and throughout 2022.
In total, We Energies employees directed $50,000 toward charitable organizations through the Safety Charity Challenge last year.
Special Olympics Wisconsin is a nonprofit organization that provides an inclusive environment for children and adults with intellectual disabilities to train and compete in athletic events year-round. It is the largest sports program in Wisconsin for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that works to provide decent, affordable housing for families across the city of Milwaukee. For nearly 40 years, the organization has partnered with local nonprofits and volunteers to build, renovate or repair homes.
Both are among the hundreds of nonprofit organizations the We Energies Foundation supports every year.
