Employees from We Energies IT Services recently welcomed approximately 40 high school students from Bradley Tech High School to our downtown Milwaukee headquarters to learn about the information technology industry.
“Our objective was to bring the energy industry to life and show IT’s role in it,” explained Tim Schlitz, director — operations applications at We Energies.
The event was part of the “Be the Spark” program, which introduces high school students to certain career fields and builds partnerships between education and companies. We Energies is participating in the IT career pathway, one of three areas of focus for 2023.
The program is in partnership with Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce and Milwaukee Public Schools, with support from MKE Tech Hub Coalition.
In December, representatives from IT Services met with seventh and eighth grade students to highlight the IT industry as part of the Hour of Tech Week, also in partnership with MKE Tech Hub Coalition. The coalition is a regional effort to inspire and show students the power of technology and innovation in southeastern Wisconsin.
